GOVERNOR BOB RILEY’S TRADE MISSION TO INDIA

Governor Riley will lead a trade mission to India May 1-7, 2010. Stops include Delhi & Chennai (with the option of visiting Bangalore or Mumbai). The multi-industry mission is aimed at Alabama's industrial, service and higher education leaders, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises.

During 2008, Alabama exported nearly $99 million of goods and services to India. This was a 31% increase in the state's exports to India compared to 2007, as opposed to the 6% increase in total U.S. exports to India during the same period. Best prospects for exports to India include aircraft, industrial/electric machinery, fertilizers, medical instruments, plastics, iron/steel, organic chemicals, vehicle parts, pulp of wood and others.

For more information on this trade mission or to register, contact Hilda Lockhart (Director), Meridith McKinney, or Beau Lore of International Trade at the Alabama Development Office: 334.242.7982.
