Governor Riley will lead a trade mission to India May 1-7, 2010. Stops include Delhi & Chennai (with the option of visiting Bangalore or Mumbai). The multi-industry mission is aimed at Alabama's industrial, service and higher education leaders, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises.
During 2008, Alabama exported nearly $99 million of goods and services to India. This was a 31% increase in the state's exports to India compared to 2007, as opposed to the 6% increase in total U.S. exports to India during the same period. Best prospects for exports to India include aircraft, industrial/electric machinery, fertilizers, medical instruments, plastics, iron/steel, organic chemicals, vehicle parts, pulp of wood and others.
